The Ministry of Railways, Government of India, through Railway Recruitment Boards (RRBs), has released the official Centralized Employment Notification (CEN) No. 06/2025 to fill over 5800 vacancies in Non-Technical Popular Categories (NTPC) – Graduate posts across Indian Railways. These posts include Chief Commercial Cum Ticket Supervisor, Station Master, Goods Train Manager, Junior Accounts Assistant Cum Typist, Senior Clerk Cum Typist, and Traffic Assistant, among others.   • Publication of Notification in Employment News: 04 October 2025

Candidates are advised to regularly visit the official RRB websites for schedule of Computer Based Tests (CBT), Aptitude Test, Skill Test, Document Verification, Medical Examination, and other updates. Mock practice tests will also be made available on the RRBs’ official websites for familiarization.

Vacancy Details & Posts :-

The CEN 06/2025 notification comprises more than 5800 total vacancies distributed among all RRB zones nationwide, with community-wise and horizontal reservations, including for Ex-Servicemen and Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD).

Candidates must choose one RRB while applying and indicate their preferences for posts and zones. Multiple applications to different RRBs or same RRB will lead to rejection and debarment from future railway recruitments.


Eligibility Criteria :-

Nationality/Citizenship:
Indian nationals, as well as citizens of Nepal, Bhutan, Tibetan refugees, and persons of Indian origin from select countries (subject to specified certificates), are eligible. Candidates requiring an eligibility certificate must provide it during document verification.

Educational Qualification:
Applicants must possess the minimum educational qualifications prescribed for each post (usually a graduate degree from a recognized university/institute) as on the last date of application (20 November 2025). Candidates awaiting final results are not eligible.

Age Limit & Relaxation (as on 01 January 2026):

  • General/EWS: 18–33 years (01.01.2008 to 02.01.1993)

  • OBC-NCL: 18–36 years (upper age relaxed by 3 years)

  • SC/ST: 18–38 years (upper age relaxed by 5 years)

  • Ex-Servicemen: Additional relaxation according to length of service

  • PwBD: Up to 10–15 years over and above respective category relaxation

Other relaxations apply to railway staff, female (widowed/divorced/judicially separated), Quasi-Administrative railway organizations, and others per notification.


Examination Fee & Refund Policy :-

Payment is accepted only through online modes (net banking, debit/credit cards, UPI). Applicants must enter their correct bank account details for fee refund.

Reservation, Relaxation & Concessions :-

  • Vertical Reservation: As per government rules for SC, ST, OBC-NCL, EWS (EWS requires valid income/assets certificate).

  • Horizontal Reservation: For PwBD and Ex-Servicemen (with age and fee relaxations).

  • **Community/category status as declared in the online application will be final. Candidates must upload/produce original, valid certificates at verification.

  • OBC(NCL) must be as per central format dated between 01 April 2025 and application deadline.

  • EWS candidates must possess a certificate issued in FY 2024–25 before 20 November 2025.

Selection & Recruitment Process :-

  • Single Online Application to be submitted through chosen RRB only.

  • Recruitment Stages Include:

    • 1st Stage Computer Based Test (CBT)

    • 2nd Stage Computer Based Test (CBT)

    • Computer Based Aptitude Test (CBAT) for applicable posts (Station Master, Traffic Assistant)

    • Computer Based Typing Skill Test (CBTST) for applicable posts

    • Document Verification (DV)

    • Medical Examination (ME)

The recruitment stages and requirements are strictly merit-based. Candidates must download e-call letters and attend exams at assigned venues.

Examination Pattern :-

  • CBT–1: Objective type, multiple choice; includes sections on General Awareness, Mathematics, General Intelligence and Reasoning.

  • CBT–2: Subject-specific; marks are normalized if exam held in multiple sessions.

  • CBTST: For Senior Clerk Cum Typist, Junior Accounts Assistant Cum Typist; qualifying nature (30 WPM English/25 WPM Hindi typing). Typing skill test exempted for certain PwBD candidates.

  • CBAT: Only for Station Master and Traffic Assistant; details as per official guide.

Negative marking: 1/3rd mark deduction for each wrong answer across CBTs.

Minimum qualifying marks:

  • UR/EWS: 40%

  • OBC(NCL)/SC: 30%

  • ST: 25%

  • 2% relaxation for PwBD if sufficient candidates are not available

Merit will be determined by normalized marks and age criteria (older candidate preferred in tie).

Medical Standards & Fitness :-

All candidates must pass Railway medical standards for preferred posts, with emphasis on visual acuity and other health parameters. Details are outlined in Chapter 5, Indian Railway Medical Manual, and must be strictly followed.

Candidates who have undergone Lasik or similar surgery are not eligible for posts needing A-2 medical standard. Ex-Servicemen medical standards are separate and specified in IRMM Volume I.

How to Apply – Step by Step :-

  1. Account Creation: Use registered email and mobile number; cannot be changed later. Aadhaar/Digilocker authentication is encouraged.

  2. Online Application: Fill in complete details accurately; select RRB and provide post/Zonal preferences.

  3. Upload Mandatory Documents: Live photo captured via device camera, personal signature, and relevant documents, including caste/age/qualification certificates.

  4. Fee Payment: Online only; wait for confirmation via SMS/email.

  5. Modification Window: Corrections allowed (with a fee) between 23 November and 02 December 2025.

  6. Final Submission: Take a printout of application and e-receipt after successful submission.

Multiple applications by the same candidate are grounds for rejection and debarment.

  • Candidates must verify eligibility, upload correct documents, and ensure they have all required certificates as on the closing date.

  • Free Sleeper Class Travel Pass provided to SC/ST for examination attendance (subject to certificate).

  • Candidates must refrain from unfair means, forgery, or duplicate submissions to avoid lifetime debarment.

  • All communication shall be via registered email/SMS.

  • Candidates may be posted in any zone/unit as per administrative requirements.

  • Appointed candidates liable for active service in Railway Engineers Unit of Territorial Army.

Special Provisions :-

  • PwBD Candidates: Various categories eligible, as per notified suitability. Scribe assistance, compensatory time, and exemptions allowed per rules.

  • Ex-Servicemen: Comprehensive age and fee relaxations, plus special reservation for applicable posts—refer to notification for technical eligibility.

  • Current Government Employees: Need NOC from employer.
